The Murcia City Council has intensified its care work during the summer season. 94 ornamental fountains and 8 lakes distributed between the capital and the surrounding districts. The goal is to maintain the water in optimal hygienic and sanitary conditions and ensure the proper functioning of each facility.
The Councilor for Urban Development and Smart City, Jose Guillén, has supervised the tasks in the Silk Garden Lake, where extensive work is being carried out following complaints from residents about its condition. This work is part of broader municipal planning to stabilize the service during peak usage months.
Summer reinforcement and in-depth actions
In the municipal lakes, and particularly in the Silk Garden, the emptying of water and manual cleaning by zones, in order to remove residues adhering to the vessel. This process includes the removal of algae and sediments and the inspection and cleaning of treatment plants and machinery to ensure proper performance.
The actions are carried out in stages to respect the fauna and flora of the environment, reducing stress for the species present. This approach allows for deep cleaning without compromising oxygenation or habitat conditions at each water point.
Daily cleaning and water quality control
In addition to in-depth interventions, a routine of daily surface cleaning of the eight lakes, which includes controlled chlorination, aeration systems and periodic analysis. This seeks ensure water safety and prevent incidents in the equipment.

The summer device has a team of more than 250 professionals from the Parks and Gardens Service, which deploy resources in coordinated shifts within the Special Summer Plan to cover the entire municipal area.
