La drought in Siero is putting a strain on the supply in several areas of the council and, in particular, in the springs of MolleoTo respond quickly to this situation, the City Council has implemented a system since August 1st to deliver water via tanker trucks to the catchments serving the town.
The performance, coordinated by Manuel Pergentino Martínez, Councillor for Water Supply and Sanitation, aims to maintain normal service while the shortage persists. The councillor has asked the population to responsible use of water, especially in these hot months, so that the resource reaches all homes.
Emergency measures to guarantee supply
The operation includes the daily contribution of around 32.000 liters to the springs that supply Molleo, a measure that has been in place since August 1 to compensate for the reduction in flow caused by the lack of rain.
Logistics is articulated from the area of Supply and Sanitation, with the support of the municipal Mobile Park, to ensure constant rotation of tanks, adequate pressure in the network, and maintenance of water quality conditions at the delivery point.
According to municipal sources, several surveys present problems due to the decline in aquifer levels, which translates into less natural flow to the sources serving the area. The cistern reinforcement measure helps maintain basic household consumption.

Call for responsible use of water
The councilor recalled that the Water is an increasingly valuable commodity and has insisted on the need to use it wisely, especially in summer. His request focuses on a moderate use in taps and bathrooms, where the main savings opportunities are concentrated.
To help stabilize the network and better distribute the resource, it is recommended simple savings practices which, together, make a difference in daily consumption:
- Short showers instead of baths and turn off the tap while soaping or brushing your teeth.
- Review and repair leaks in cisterns, taps and hoses.
- Avoid irrigation and vehicle washing during peak hours; postpone non-essential uses.
- Use home appliances at full load and in eco programs whenever possible.
The City Council maintains a close collaboration with neighborhood associations and rural sociocultural centers to deliver notifications, resolve queries, and address supply-related incidents.
The continuity of the reinforcement with tanks will be evaluated according to the evolution of the precipitation and flow rates in the coming weeks. Until natural intake levels return, the device will remain active and adjust to daily needs.
