If we want to stop climate change, one of the best things we can do is bet on renewable energyIn Spain, the land of the sun, we could live perfectly well using them. The air and water would not be polluted, so the quality of life would improve. Furthermore, the use of clean energy would help mitigate the effects of climate change. effects of climate change in Spain and is related to the initiatives they implement countries fighting drought.

Even so, for the moment oil remains the main protagonist of our day to day. Faced with this situation, Greenpeace activists they painted a giant sun in Barcelona, specifically in Francesc Macià Square, in order to support renewable energy.

The action, which took place on the night of June 21, 2017, the day of the summer solstice, has surprised everyone. About twenty people were the authors of a giant Sun of 50 meters in diameter, using more than 2.000 liters of ecological paint. The extended rays surrounded the square in the different ways that start from the roundabout with a single purpose: claim the end of the sun tax. According to activists, the Spanish government remains stuck in the past when it comes to energy issues. This can be seen in the way it manages the sun tax, a topic that has sparked much controversy and debate.

For them, our leaders continue to "define aid for dirty energy such as coal or nuclear", and not only that, but "in European negotiations all their interest is in securing clauses so that Spain may fail to comply with the new renewable objectives with impunity or to legitimize the Sun tax throughout Europe"," said Sara Pizzinato, head of the renewable energy campaign at Greenpeace. This situation also relates to the impact that climate change has on all continents, as studied in the research of the relationship between giant hail and climate change.

What is the Sun Tax? It's about a tax for each solar panel you want to have, which penalizes self-consumption. For residential homes, it will be €9 per year plus VAT per kilowatt of power for each panel, while industries will pay this rate plus a variable rate based on their consumption. This tax hinders the development of renewable energy in a country that could lead its use, something also reflected in the actions needed to eliminate it in the future.

The painting was removed by a cleaning crew on the morning of June 22.
