Today, March 1, the meteorological spring begins. The color season that many like so much, and not so much others. During this quarter, how will the weather behave? Will it rain more than usual? Will it be hot or cold?
Let's see how will spring 2017 be according to the State Meteorological Agency.
Every month, the AEMET (Meteorological Agency) produces a forecast for the next three months using different models based on data from the 1981-2010 period. Although it's impossible to know for sure what the weather will be like, we can get an idea by looking at this forecast. With this in mind, let's see what this season has in store for us:
Temperatures

This spring is expected warmer than normal throughout SpainThis is something we are already seeing in many parts of the country, where temperatures remain between 5 and 7 degrees above normal. Thus, for example, in southern Andalusia, the eastern peninsula, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, maximum temperatures could range between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere, while they will not be as high, they will remain between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. You can find more information on this topic in the article on temperatures in 2017 and in the analysis of spring 2017 and a summary about the warmest and driest years.
Without a doubt, they are very nice values, but they are more typical of the end of spring / beginning of summer.
Precipitation

If we talk about rainfall, there is a greater probability that they are lower than normal in the Canary IslandsIn the rest of the country, rainfall is likely to remain at normal levels. This means that if it doesn't usually rain much in your area, it's likely it won't rain much this year either. For more details on rainfall, you can check out our article on precipitation anomalies, as well as consulting the trends of the water deficit and the conditions of the warmer than normal spring.
Thus, in general, a hot spring season is expected, to the point that more than one and more than two are sure to bathe in the pool or on the beach before summer arrives, and dry.
Have a good spring.
