Mainland Denmark is located in Jutland, except for the extreme south, in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. The northernmost part of the peninsula is separated from the rest by the Linfjord, which connects the Skagerrak to the North Sea, turning the North Jutland region into an island, although connected by numerous bridges and roads.

Despite the latitude, Jutland's climate is moderated by the Baltic and North Seas and the warm Gulf Stream. Precipitation is not very abundant (600-800 mm per year) but it is more frequent on the west coast. The rainiest season is summer.

Aalborg

Voergaard Castle

This Renaissance castle to visit in Jutland is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Denmark. The entrance porch was originally designed for the Royal Castle in Fredensborg. In the area still open to the public, you can see the main wing, which contains works by Goya and Rubens, as well as a variety of furniture, tableware, and ceramics made for Napoleon.

Hjerl Hede Frilandsmuseet

This Open-air museum recreates the evolution of the Danish people from 1500 to 1900. It consists of 28 buildings, including a hotel, a school, a dairy and a blacksmith shop. In this place you can see characters that recreate various deals just as they did in the time they represent. A great place to feel part of the real world of old movie scenes.

Viking Center Fyrkat

In this open-air museum you can visit the remains of an ancient Viking settlement that has been restored around the year 980. Outside the camp a cemetery with 30 graves was discovered, and to the north a Viking-style farm that recreates their way of life in the village.
